Cheers to beers (and engagements)!

This weekend Matt and I will be hosting an informal engagement party for ourselves! We wanted to share our love for each other and for beer with friends and close family here in Austin. We will be having two delicious choices, both Texas tried and true, Live Oak Hefeweizen and Shiner 101 Czech-Style Pilsner. Here are some pics of party prep and wedding-related items.

Pic O' the Day!

Apparently I have a thing for couples standing in fields of something or another. This photo is so cute, from her awesome bouquet to that endless cotton field. Also, she's cute and little and he is rugged and mountain man-ish--charming!

Thanks, Once Wed!

Introducing Royal Fig

Hey, peeps! Last week was a very exciting week, we picked a florist and a caterer, Royal Fig! We loved our tasting and husband-and-wife team Dan and Kristen are going to be great to work with. Expect good things, including a delicious brisket, at the wedding!

Wedding Pancakes

This is too cute! In wedding news, I'm pretty sure we have a florist! Also, we met with our coordinator tonight in person! She is just great and has a wonderful personality. Looking forward to working with her. Matt is on spring break so we've been enjoying tennis and the dog park! We also have many visitors for SXSW, Austin's famous music, film, and interactive festival, this weekend!

From inspiration to real life

Lauren W. did an awesome job incorporating a beer label into our engagement party invite. Hurray beer!

Folky Ribbon

The use of ribbon is an idea I like for our wedding theme a lot. It just looks "German", doesn't it?

Inspiration boards

Inspiration boards fly around like crazy over the wedding blogosphere! Though there are lots of pretty and dainty ones, it's hard to find ones w/ bright enough colors for me! I'm still trying to nail down a color scheme that I like, a lot harder than it sounds. Anyway, take a look at these inspiration boards from Snippet & Ink and let me know if you like them!

This one is just plain fun! I love the paper goods especially.

Really love the colors and the relaxed outdoors vibe.

This one is not very bright, but extremely girly, which redeems it.

Not my favorite colors, but has a good feeling about it.

Color, color, color and an amazing yellow dress!

News + I know how to link now!

Well, this has been a really fun week for the wedding. Lauren Westrup designed our engagement party invites, the first in a series of many, many papergoods :-) I love paper goods, they can add such personal, fun touches to weddings. Here are a few pics of my assemblage! Yes, I did enjoy a Mothership Wit during the process, thank you very much.

As you can see, they turned out great! She even used the Shiner Frost label as inspiration for the border--she knows beer will be a big part of the wedding ;)

In other news, we met with Kristen at Royal Fig for a consultation and we'll have our tasting in a couple weeks!! So excited, we love food! Matt wanted a "braut and kraut" passed app and they're going to create one for us! V. exciting! Other things we'll be trying: apps--goat cheese mousse on a parmesan crisp, pulled pork sliders; entrees--brisket, pork loin w/ spinach and sunchokes, and mustard-crusted salmon; sides--brussel sprouts and creole mustard mashed potatoes; seasonal salad; assorted breads! mmmm hungry now.

This week I have an appointment with Rosehip Flora. I cannot wait! I love their work and it really speaks to the style of flowers I want at the wedding. We shall see what happens there.

Yay for blog time!

Updates!

Hi, everyone! Planning is moving along quite nicely as of late. Last week, I hired a coordinator, Aimee Villa at Lizze Belle events. I really liked her laid back and honest approach and think she'd be a perfect fit for our wedding. Friday, we have our initial consultation with Royal Fig Catering, who come highly recommended and happen to be friends of friends. They specialize in local, seasonal, and organic foods--all check pluses in my book. Matt and I are really excited because we both love food and are interested to explore the many options in customizing our wedding meal and apps. Here is their page if you'd like to check it out: http://www.royalfig.com/
