Happy Friday!

This week has been pretty good! We started off with Matt's birthday and now we have his official party this weekend, with bits of wedding planning and work, work, work in between. Oh yeah, besides the party, I will be trying on wedding dresses for the first time tomorrow!! I have a mini entourage of my mom - Lee Ann, my aunt - Linda, Lori (MOH), Allison (BM), Matt's mom - Jayne, and Matt's sis - Jessica (BM) coming with me. Hopefully, I'll get some good ideas, and I already have a few. Hope everyone has a good summer-fun weekend!

Happy birthday, Matt!

My lovely fiance, Matthew Leach, turned 27 today! He is such a hard-working, kind, smart, funny human being and I cannot wait to marry him! We had his first celebration this past weekend (on our visit to see sis, J, and the rest of our beloved Chicago peeps) at the Chicago Brauhaus and Huettenbar in Lincoln Square, a German neighborhood. Also, paid a special visit to Hot Doug's just for him! Today, I surprised him with 3-day passes to ACL (Strokes, here we come!) and we had dinner at Jeffrey's in our neighborhood. This weekend we'll be having a party at our apartment with our families and friends! We'll be toasting with (512) Wit! HAPPY B-DAY, MY LOVE!

Introducing Coco Paloma Desserts

So we officially have a cake baker! Paloma from Coco Paloma Desserts is amazing and pays attention to every single detail, producing beautiful, high-quality cakes! I knew it was a creative partnership meant to be. She even said something like: I'm not trying to be forward, but I think I'm the person to make your cake! And she was right. She gets it - my favorite quality in any of the vendors we meet (and usually leads to us signing the contract). Here is her blog! The flavor I have chosen for the bride's cake is: bourbon praline cake - yellow cake doused with a bourbon soak filled with homemade pecan praline buttercream - yum yum!

Independence Day

Today was a productive day - entered the guest list into an official template and prepared for our Chicago visit next week. Tomorrow, we'll be tubing on the Guadalupe with Matt's family. Here's a preview of photo shoot w/ Matt's sibs and mom. Happy holiday, everyone!!

Wedding News!!

In cake tasting news, met with Sentelli's yesterday. Mike, the owner, is a laid back, Austin hippie! One that makes delicious cakes! Of note are the tiramisu and chocolate truffle cakes. We meet with Coco Paloma tomorrow to continue our quest for the perfect cake. Will keep you posted...

Also this week - we've picked our flower girls! They will be Sofia, daughter of one of my co-workers, and Kennedy, Matt's cousin on the Leach side. They will both be in second grade, have curly hair, and are super cute! Needless to say, they were extremely excited!

Happy Friday!

This weekend is gonna be AWESOME! I'll be southbound 35 again for one of my longtime friend's bridal shower. Also, I'll be seeing my bestie who is recently engaged! That's right, folks - recently ENGAGED! We're gonna have a lot to do since I pretty much told her I want to plan her wedding :-) I am so excited to see my ladies! Hope everyone can find a nearby cool spot/water source this weekend b/c it's getting hot out there!

Reunited for bridal shower! Here we are in Las Vegas last summer. From left: Lori, Allison, Lela, Me, Courtney (soon-to-be bride!)

Lori and Nathan are newly engaged! Congrats! So happy for you guys!

Wedding News!!

Back in the wedding grind - feels good! Next week, Matt and I have two cake tastings. The first is with Sentelli's. The owner used to be the pastry chef at the Driskill and now runs his own bakery right down the street from us! Second is Coco Paloma, she likes challenges and non-traditional cakes and I'm pretty sure she worked at the Driskill some time or another, too. I'll keep you posted on both tastings! This is also one of the things Matt's actually pumped about, which is always a plus. Also meeting with Lauren W. on Thursday to see if we can finally come up with a color palette. Here are some pics from Coco Paloma's blog. I like her eye for design!
